Volunteers & Paid Workers too...Thursday Workdays allow us to accomplish work and avoid more expensive work repairs or construction costs as we restore and maintain this historic site (the Planters Exchange is a National Registered Historic Site).
Work tasks range from basic construction to clean-up and landscaping, painting minor repairs... and more advanced work with work workers, electricians, plumbers, who help in overseeing work, plans & material orders, and design or repairs.
PAID WORKERS TOO! As likely noticed, there are many projects to maintain and improve this historic site and the various shops & offices, Pavilion, Auditorium, and grounds. These activities can allow us to accomplish many of the improvements, repairs, and maintenance that can provide paid part-time work opportunities for those with more advanced skills, as well as helpers who can work part-time; even if just 4 hours a week. (work projects also often occur on times/days other than Thursdays)
Currently there are multiple projects, with the need for workers from 12 - 40 hours per week on various projects. Call or text Bill Piotrowski (850-510-4979), Laura white (954-646-1961), or Pat Kitching (352-214-1831) for further information.

LITTLE HAVANA OPRYCome help us celebrate 100 years of the Grand Ole Opry with our very own Opry show in little ole Havana! Anna's longtime dream has been to play the Opry, but until then, she thought it'd be fun to bring the show to YOU ;) So, she has put together an amazing line up of artists (including one who has accompanied Billy Dean at the Grand Ole Opry!) to put on an amazing night of country music! Enjoy timeless classics like "Hello Darlin", "Lovesick Blues", "Coal Miner's Daughter", "Mama Tried" and so much more. We will have a guest emcee just like at the Opry, as well as printed programs with all the artists info, custom merchandise, AND a great photo op in the "Little Havana Opry" circle. There will be food trucks starting at 5pm if you'd like to come early to eat or check out the great local restaurants right around the corner from the venue! Get your tickets today as seating is limited! |

| 2026-01-15 00:00:00Z | Jan 14, 2026 | Thursday Workdays | Jan 15, 2026 | 204 2nd Street NW |

| 2026-01-17 10:30:00Z | Jan 17, 2026 | Cunningham Room Author Presentation - John Whiddon |
Jan 17, 2026 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM |
Cunningham Exhibit Room |
For the good part of eight decade, the author of this collection of dubious wild turkey potpourri has been chasing feathers. Whiddon was born and spent the majority of his life in Chattahoochee, Florida, where, incidentally, the state mental institution is located. Except for a four-year hiatus in the United States Air force during the Vietnam era and various excursions around the globe (generally in pursuit of feathered creatures), he has not strayed far from the Florida Panhandle. Although his obsession with America’s greatest game bird has been his lifelong passion and reason for being, he has masqueraed as a college professor at Florida State University and held various administrative positions in other public service facades before retirement. He retired the first time in 1995 and, at last count, six or seven different times since. For Whiddon, hobbies somehow turn into jobs. To support his primary addiction, he has been forced to launch several successful entrepreneurial ventures, including a healthcare regulatory consulting business and an Argentinian outfitting company. He’s even authored several fictional mystery novels, that can be previewed below. He has traveled the globe for both business and pleasure. Somehow, he has remained married for fifty-seven years and has a mixed pair of kids and a precious, precocious granddaughter, with whom this book is dedicated.
Those Gobblin Thangs is a collection of “literary” (used loosely) endeavors composed over a forty-year period, which exposes the indisputable nuance that old men never grow up. For more information contact Laura White at lwhite.hhhs@gmail.com |
